Superintendent of Northmor Local School District

Mr. Chad Redmon
Dear Golden Knight Families,
It’s hard to believe we are already well into the second nine weeks grading period. As we approach the Midterm of the quarter, I want to commend our students, teachers, and staff for settling into the routine of learning and engagement. Our students are finding their stride in their studies, and I look forward to celebrating their academic achievements throughout the year.
Fall athletics are behind us, and we have a great deal to be proud of from the successes of our athletic teams. Our beloved football team finished 10-0 in the regular season and won the KMAC title and continued their winning ways well into the Ohio High School State Football playoffs. This was the first ever 10-0 regular season finish in the history of the school district. The school spirit displayed by our student-athletes and fans is a testament to the support of the Golden Knights Family. If you didn’t have a chance to attend an athletic event, I encourage you to attend a basketball game, wrestling match, or bowling match, in the days ahead, as our student-athletes and coaches will be very exciting to watch over the course of the Winter season.
I shared in the Fall newsletter that the district would receive a 4 out of 5 stars on the district report card from the ODEW (Ohio Department of Education and Workforce) based on preliminary results. I am pleased to inform you that we scored better than anticipated, and we received a 4.5 out of 5 stars rather than a 4 out of 5 stars. The report card gives us much reason to celebrate and is very important data to show how students are doing academically but it’s not 100 percent of our mission. Great things are happening every day within our PK-12 building that can’t be measured by a state assessment. A few things that come to mind are the many untested areas that are successful and critical to the growth and development of students offered here at Northmor. The Agricultural Education program, and Fine Arts Department are few examples of exemplary programs that can’t be measured by state assessments. These programs provide leadership skills, allow for innovation and soft skill development that will carry students well beyond the walls of our brick-and-mortar school building.
In closing, I want to thank our families who partner with us in being there for their children each day. It has been wonderful seeing parents volunteering and supporting our students in many ways. The home-school connection has been a strong trait of the Golden Knight community that continues to foster strong relationships and benefits our students. If you have not taken the opportunity to reach out and thank a school employee or offer some words of encouragement, I am sure they would appreciate hearing from you. Simple words or actions of kindness can make such a positive impact on others who may otherwise be experiencing a day of challenges.
Yours in Education,
Chad Redmon
